Tasks and Responsibilities Description
We are now looking for an experienced designer to join the Failure Prediction and Prevention team (FPP), a team within Storm. FPP primarily works on ForeSight, a digital product focused on condition monitoring, failure prediction, and failure prevention for offshore wind operations and maintenance. The team also collaborates closely with the other teams in Storm and with the other applications in the Storm ecosystem to create coherent user experiences and deliver value across workflows.
FPP operates within a complex product area with high domain complexity, significant user impact, and a strong need for speed. ForeSight is important for the value realization of Storm, and the designer in this role will be expected to contribute far beyond execution of predefined scope.
We are not looking for a designer who mainly receives requirements and turns them into screens. We are looking for a designer who can work as a close partner to the product manager and tech lead to help shape product direction, challenge assumptions, identify opportunities, and ensure the user perspective is built into workflows and decisions from the start.
This role requires someone who can understand users in their real operational context and translate complex needs into clear product direction and usable solutions. The designer must be comfortable working in ambiguity, engaging directly with users, and helping the team make better decisions about where to focus and how to deliver value.
This is especially important for the next phase of ForeSight. Going forward, the product will expand to new assets, where users are likely to experience pain points early on. This creates an important opportunity to identify unmet needs, understand workflow challenges, and shape a solution that delivers meaningful value from the beginning. At the same time, ForeSight is evolving toward a broader condition monitoring product: not only providing warnings before failure, but also supporting understanding of component health status and enabling better maintenance program adjustments over time.
Competence Requirements
- Conduct user research to understand user needs, pain points, workflows, and operational contexts
- Define key user roles, map user journeys, and identify opportunities for product improvement
- Work closely with the product manager and tech lead to frame problems, explore opportunities, and shape product direction
- Develop concepts, interaction designs, prototypes, and other design artefacts that help the team think clearly and move quickly
- Validate concepts and solutions through testing and iteration with users
- Collaborate closely with engineering and data science to test ideas through experimentation and ensure solutions are feasible, useful, and implemented with quality
- Contribute actively to the broader design community by sharing work, insights, and learnings with the design lead and other designers
- Clear definitions of key user roles and user journeys
Well-framed problem statements and design scopes linked to desired outcomes - Concepts and prototypes that articulate how solutions address user pain points and needs, while also supporting business goals
- Interaction designs and screen flows that fit real operational workflows
- Detailed interface design, based on the customer Design System, that is ready for development
- Usability testing and iterative improvements based on evidence and feedback
- Design artefacts that support alignment across product, technology, and business stakeholders
- User guidance and supporting material where needed to help adoption of key functionality
- Strong collaboration skills and experience working in cross-functional teams with representatives from both business and technical backgrounds.
