Requirements
- Matric certificate (Grade 12) as a minimum
- A formal electrical qualification or trade certificate would be an advantage
- Between one and two years of experience in a technical repairs, electronics, or support environment
- Practical exposure to solar PV systems and electrical fault-finding
- Solid understanding of inverters, batteries, charge controllers, and DB boards
- Confidence using diagnostic tools and testing equipment
- Strong communication skills and a solutions-driven mindset
Duties
In this hands-on role, you'll be the go-to expert for keeping solar energy systems running at their best. Your day-to-day will involve:
System Maintenance & Repairs — Identifying faults and carrying out repairs across solar PV installations, inverters, batteries, and general electrical equipment, including swapping out defective components to restore peak performance.
Parts & Documentation — Sourcing the right replacement parts and keeping accurate service reports and maintenance records up to date.
Technical Guidance — Interpreting technical drawings and manuals to carry out work correctly, and producing training materials or conducting equipment demonstrations when the need arises.
Customer & Team Support — Offering technical assistance to clients and collaborating within a skilled technical team, while also being capable of working independently when required.
Safety & Compliance — Upholding electrical safety standards and ensuring all work meets relevant regulations.
