The HV Battery Build Technician is a hands-on role responsible for supporting the assembly, testing, and basic diagnostics of high-voltage (HV) battery systems. This position focuses on prototype build and validation activities, requiring strong attention to detail, adherence to safety and quality standards, and a willingness to learn and grow within a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support assembly and teardown of HV battery modules and packs, including cell integration, busbar and coolant systems, enclosure sealing, and diagnostic inspection
- Assist with validation and lifecycle testing, operating assembly tools, basic electrical test equipment, and CAN-based communication tools as required.
- Perform routine inspections, measurements, and basic diagnostics, escalating issues to senior technicians or engineering as needed.
- Execute battery pack and module builds while following defined procedures, work instructions, and safety protocols.
- Collaborate with build team members and supervisors to meet production and testing objectives while maintaining quality standards.
- Maintain detailed records of build and test activities, ensuring accurate reporting of issues and results.
- Uphold a safe working environment and proactively identify and report potential safety concerns.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and support implementation efforts to enhance build efficiency and consistency.
Qualifications
- 2–3 years of experience in automotive, manufacturing, or technical assembly environments.
- Associate’s degree in a technical field, ASE certification, or equivalent practical experience.
- Foundational knowledge of HV battery systems, electrical components, and safe handling practices.
- Experience with mechanical assembly, hand tools, and basic electrical test equipment (e.g., multimeter).
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow detailed instructions and procedures.
- Basic proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word) for documentation and reporting.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work within a team environment.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with electrical schematics and basic troubleshooting methods.
- Exposure to CAN communication tools or battery test systems.
- High voltage certification (or willingness to obtain).
