DescriptionPosition Overview: As a member of Anew Canada’s Low Carbon Fuels team, you’ll play a key role in quantifying and generating environmental credits from the production and use of low carbon fuels, primarily in Canadian and US-based markets. You bring self-motivation, strong attention to detail, excellent communication and collaboration skills, and dynamic passion to reduce climate emissions through environmental markets.
You will be responsible for performing day-to-day operations within the implementation & operations team, working primarily within the context of Canada’s Clean Fuel Regulations (CFR) and British Columbia’s Low Carbon Fuel Standard (BC LCFS) programs gathering client documentation, record keeping, and interfacing with external stakeholders such as verification bodies.
Primary Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
• Assist in managing renewable fuels projects with customers from inception through operation, ensuring regulatory requirements are met, and acting as primary liaison between Anew Canada and customer operations teams
• Collect recurring quarterly documents and data from clients operating renewable natural gas (RNG) facilities, electric vehicle (EV) chargers, and advanced fuel dispensing facilities
• Perform carbon intensity (CI) and lifecycle assessment (LCA) work for existing and prospective clients
• Support team leads during client onboarding and compliance requirement activities
• Act as data and recordkeeping expert by processing and validating large amounts of data,
• performing QAQC on data and inputs, and updating databases with regulatory changes
• Liaise with clients and third-party auditors for information and facility-specific data requests
• Register and maintain fuel pathway applications for projects under the CFR and BC LCFS
• Build effective relationships and present key findings to internal and external partners
• Identify and explore evolving existing systems and procedures to improve efficiency or adapt to changing external/regulatory environment
• Support the implementation & operations team as required
Required Education, Experience & Skills
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, or relevant field
• Prior experience in natural gas, electricity or renewable energy, preferably with biogas or renewable natural gas projects
• Fluency with Microsoft Excel, including versatile knowledge of advanced functions and formulas
• Strong interpersonal and business communication skills
Preferred Competencies
• Knowledge of Canadian low carbon fuel programs
• Familiarity with carbon intensity, lifecycle analysis (LCA) calculations, and LCA programs such as OpenLCA, GHGenius or GREET
• Experience with regulatory requirements and auditing
Note: Must be eligible to work in Canada, and some travel may be required. This position is posted as a full-time, 12-month contract.
