DescriptionOverview: The Environmental Project Coordination Specialist supports the coordination and execution of environmental compliance activities, including lead-based paint testing, abatement, clearance, contractor coordination, resident communication, and related documentation.
This role works closely with the Testing & Abatement Manager and Testing & Abatement Coordinator to help keep projects moving from planning through completion. The position supports field operations, coordination among internal and external parties, documentation flow, and follow-up on outstanding items to help ensure work is completed in accordance with project requirements, schedules, and compliance standards.
Responsibilities
Project Coordination and Execution
- Support coordination of environmental project activities from scheduling through completion, including testing, abatement, clearance, and closeout activities
- Work closely with the Testing & Abatement Manager to support implementation of approved scopes of work, timelines, and compliance requirements
- Partner with the Testing & Abatement Coordinator to align project activity with unit-level tracking, documentation requirements, and reporting support
- Coordinate with contractors, site staff, residents, laboratories, and inspectors to help maintain project momentum and timely completion
- Follow up on open items, scheduling issues, documentation gaps, and access challenges that may affect progress
- Support coordination across departments to help ensure project milestones are met
Field Coordination and Contractor Support
- Conduct site visits to observe work progress and support coordination of field activity
- Coordinate with contractors, testing firms, and clearance vendors to support timely execution of work
- Communicate field conditions, delays, and outstanding items to the Testing & Abatement Manager
- Assist in confirming units are prepared for testing, abatement, clearance, and re-occupancy, as applicable
- Support follow-up on incomplete work, punch list items, and next steps needed to move work forward
Resident Coordination and Relocation Support
- Coordinate communication with residents regarding access, work schedules, testing, abatement, clearance timing, and next steps
- Support temporary relocations as needed to facilitate project completion
- Work with property management, vendors, and residents to coordinate relocation logistics and return timing
- Assist with resident questions and concerns and elevate issues as needed
- Help ensure residents receive required notices and communications in coordination with the project team
Documentation and Administrative Support
- Collect and organize field documentation, contractor reports, laboratory results, clearance reports, and related records
- Help ensure documentation is transmitted timely to the Testing & Abatement Coordinator for tracking, reporting, and file maintenance
- Assist in identifying missing documentation and following up with contractors, labs, or site staff
- Support updates to trackers, status logs, and project records as needed
- Assist with assembling documentation needed for project closeout, compliance review, and reimbursement support
QualificationsRequirements
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Environmental Science, Property Management, or related field preferred
- 2–4 years of experience in project coordination, construction coordination, property management, environmental work, or related field
- Experience coordinating contractors, residents, and site activity preferred
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work in both field and office settings
- Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office required; Yardi and Smartsheet experience preferred
