Summary
This position is located at Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, in Dispatch Services within the Visitor and Resource Protection Division.
Major Duties
Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, Arizona/Utah: The park encompasses approximately 1.2 million acres with water and land-based activities ranging in elevation from 3,200 to 5,000 feet. The person selected for this position will be expected to develop and maintain the skills required for operating a 24-hour Regional Communication Dispatch Center overseeing 10 park units and working with 5 counties, tribal and state partners. The following are common major duties: Supervises the staff in the Interagency Communications Center and is responsible for day-to-day operations. Development and maintenance of complex dispatch operating plans, guides, protocols, directories, operating systems, databases, intelligence sources, and other reference/training material. Ensures that staff have the skills, training, motivation, tools, and resources to be effective, resilient, and healthy in their roles within the communication center. Plans and schedules work to be accomplished by subordinates, reviews work and performance and performs employee appraisals and evaluations. Acts in a leadership role as an emergency contact and is responsive to questions and problems that staff encounter. Also ensures continuity of operations and that the center meets minimum staffing levels.
