Summary
This position is located in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, in the Business & Technology Division. Career-seasonal positions are subject to release and recall procedures. These positions offer permanent benefits but not year-round work. Selectees will be in non-pay/non-duty status for 2 weeks to 6 months annually, depending on project needs or weather. They are guaranteed at least 6 months of work and no more than 50 weeks per year. The typical season runs February-December but may vary.
Major Duties
Serve as a front-line, uniformed representative of the NPS, answering visitor questions and explaining the area's recreational opportunities, including NPS interpretive services, concession operated facilities and services, campground availability, hiking trails, etc. Perform assignments in accordance with all NPS and U.S. Treasury regulations governing the handling of government funds. Additional duties for GS-05: Assist higher level personnel with auditing fee collection program components/systems (e.g. cash registers, road/trail registers, honor systems, automated fee machines or AFMs, donation boxes, etc.); assist in completing audit paperwork and documenting findings; communicate audit results to supervisor. Prepare and complete remittance reports and bank deposits for funds donated and/or collected by others. Review shift reports and count funds collected; Investigate and proactively resolve routine or recurring discrepancies, and track overages, shortages, and errors.
