PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:
The Energy Modeller works collaboratively with the Mechanical or Electrical team, in order to provide energy simulations and analysis in accordance with the National Energy Code for Buildings (NECB).
MAJOR FUNCTIONS:
Energy Modelling using IES-VE and HAP. Reviewing engineering drawings at various stages of new construction projects (schematic design, design development, 75% and Issued for Tender drawings) in order to recreate the facility using IES-VE for energy performance modelling. Applying the National Energy Code for Buildings (NECB) to determine performance of the facility. Review of shop drawings as required to complete final compliance models and verify energy inputs.
Assist design engineers with heat load calculations, cooling load calculations and ASHRAE 62 calculations to support new construction design.
Data Entry and Utility Analysis: excel spreadsheet, competence with Retscreen software and IES-VE modelling software considered an asset.
File Sharing Site: posting documentation and downloading information received from clients.
Energy Study Documentation: initial set up of the template reports, provide assistance with completing proper forms, provide support with formatting of the various documentation, provide assistance with the preparation of the reports and creating PDF reports.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
The position requires the incumbent to have competence with a variety of computer software including demonstrated experience in AutoCAD, experience with HAP or IES-VE considered an asset.
Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
EDUCATION:
University Degree or College Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or other relevant discipline such as Building Systems
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Experience in the consulting engineering industry considered an asset
Experience working with construction drawings considered an asset
