Complex Environmental Manager
Description:
The day-to-day responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to environmental conformance and compliance, operations of the wastewater treatment, salt save, waste and sustainability for the JBS Greeley and GVA sites.This includesenvironmental training for both sites and supervision of wastewater staff, maintenance of the wastewater facility and salt save, housekeeping and safety of environmental areas and regulatory compliance for the sites.Successful applicants will have excellent communication skills and will act as the liaison between JBS Greeley and GVA and local, state and federal environmental agencies.
Main Responsibilities:
- Manage the Environmental Department and secondary wastewater treatment
- Supervise Wastewater personnel and help to continually improve wastewater quality
- Review environmental data, operations and testing protocol as required for compliance and conformance including best practices
- Keep accurate records and track necessary data toensure all documentation is kept up to date and accurate
- Design and verify adequate sampling and testing strategies to reduce loading to secondary and improve wastewater quality
- Make sure all safety rules andrequirements are followed
- Communicateeffectively with plant leadership and regulators on matters related to permitting, relevant regulations and non-compliance issues.
- Ensure that both sitesmaintains necessary environmental permits including submitting for renewal in a timely manner to avoid expiration.
- Investigate environmental complaints.
- Lead and maintain requirements of the Environmental Management System (EMS) including routine updates of the Environmental Aspect Register (EAR)
- Provide environmental training for staff and division personnel.
- Ensure that all facilities have adequate and efficient environmental protection systems. Supervise design, construction and startup as may be required. Collaborate with site, business unitand third party engineers on design, budgeting, startup and permitting on projectsassigned to them. Stay current on changing regulations and technology.
- Participate in the emergencyand chemical release reporting and response program.
- Respond timely to environmental concerns including spills
- Provide daily and routine reports to management
- Manage data tracking and report onutility’s, water, gas and electricity
- Drive sustainability and sustainabilityprojects and lead the utilities team (routine meetings)
- Lead the yield loss reduction team, develop yield loss reduction projects with the site team
- Complete routine audits with a focus on environmental opportunities including but not limited to yield loss and utilities waste
- Drive waste reduction and landfill diversion projects
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering or similar field preferred.
- Proven management skills.
- Experience with environmental reporting (DMR, Tier II, TRI, GHG, hazardous waste, etc.), wastewater treatment and Rendering air scrubbers
- Knowledge of environmental regulations including Colorado’s GEMM, SWPPP, SPCC, wastewater treatment and NPDES and air permitting and programs.
- Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite Products (Word, Excel, PPT, Outlook).
- Previous experience working with and appropriately handling confidential information.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering or similar field preferred.

- 401(k): eligible after the 1st day of employment including company match which begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule
- Base salary range of$116,000 - 148,000
- This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual bonus plan; the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program.
