The Environmental Engineer – Water Program is charged with managing water and wastewater systems for semiconductor manufacturing at Micron’s Manassas location. This position ensures the facility meets regulatory standards and promotes balanced water management. It partners with Facilities, Engineering, Operations, and Environmental Health & Safety groups to protect the environment while supporting dependable manufacturing. The engineer relies on technical expertise, data analysis, and regulatory familiarity to optimize water system function and contribute to long-term site aims.
Responsibilities
- Supervise conformity and functionality of water, wastewater, and stormwater systems, guaranteeing that all processes satisfy federal, state, and local environmental regulations and permit requirements.
- Monitor system performance, analyze environmental data, and drive improvements in water efficiency, sustainability, and system reliability.
- Support the operation, optimization, and troubleshooting of water treatment, recycling, and discharge systems in collaboration with Facilities and Operations teams.
- Prepare regulatory reports, permit applications, and internal documentation; coordinate or contribute to audits, inspections, incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
- Participate in water-related capital projects, upgrades, and system modifications, while promoting environmental stewardship, safe work practices, and compliance awareness across the site.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- More than 3 years of experience assessing and applying environmental regulations and permits related to water, wastewater, or stormwater systems.
- Experience in data-driven decision making, along with solid organizational, and communication skills with the ability to work cross‑functionally internally and externally.
Preferred Qualifications
- More than 5 years of experience providing support for industrial or semiconductor manufacturing water and wastewater systems.
- Experience with water treatment technologies, recycling systems, or sustainability programs encompassing incident investigation and root cause analysis.
- Experience interacting with regulatory agencies and supporting environmental audits or inspections (ISO 14001).
