DescriptionStantec is seeking a Senior Environmental Engineer in the Okemos, Michigan office. Your role is to serve as a liaison with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies. You will have advanced working knowledge of downstream petroleum industry operational processes that will support our professional services team.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with stakeholders and with internal and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors in preparation and coordination of project work on downstream petroleum industry projects.
- Apply advanced knowledge of current principles and practices implemented on petroleum downstream petroleum industry sites.
- Collaborate with environmental engineers, geologists, scientists, chemists, planners, hazardous waste technicians, other specialists and experts in law and business to address environmental problems.
- Perform on technically complex projects and act as a technical resource to other team members.
- Apply knowledge and expertise acquired through progressive experience to resolve complex issues where precedent may be limited.
QualificationsYour Capabilities and Credentials
- Expert level understanding of all phases of project execution within downstream petroleum operational environments.
- Expert level experience with federal and state regulatory agencies.
- Exercise independent judgement to resolve complex problems, analyze and interpret scientific data and information, and select methods and solutions to resolve problems.
- Demonstrates creativity, foresight and mature engineering judgment in anticipating and solving problems.
- Thorough understanding of engineering concepts and ability to communicate ideas to others.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master's Degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical, Water Resources, or Mechanical Engineering.
- 25 - 30 years of environmental engineering experience.
