Job Title: Head of Procurement – Solar Projects
Department: Procurement & Supply Chain
Location: Salt Lake, Kolkata
Experience: 10–12 years (minimum 5 years in Solar/Energy sector)
Reporting To: CEO
Job Purpose
To lead and manage the procurement function for solar EPC projects (rooftop and utility-scale), ensuring cost-effective purchasing, timely delivery of materials and services, and strong supplier partnerships aligned with the company's business goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Procurement Planning:
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies for solar modules, inverters, structures, cables, BOS items, and services.
- Forecast material requirements based on project timelines and coordinate with project teams.
- Vendor Development & Management:
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard reliable vendors with a strong focus on quality and cost.
- Negotiate long-term contracts and pricing structures with key suppliers.
- Ensure vendor compliance with technical and quality standards.
- Cost Optimization & Budgeting:
- Drive cost-saving initiatives while maintaining quality standards.
- Prepare and monitor procurement budgets and ensure alignment with project cost estimates.
- Procurement Operations:
- Oversee the procurement cycle, including RFQs, techno-commercial evaluations, PO issuance, and delivery follow-ups.
- Ensure timely delivery and logistics coordination for project sites.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in ERP/SAP systems.
- Cross-functional Coordination:
- Collaborate with engineering, project management, quality, and finance teams.
- Support internal stakeholders on technical procurement issues and approvals.
- Market Intelligence:
- Stay abreast of global and domestic market trends, price fluctuations, and regulatory changes.
- Benchmark vendor pricing and ensure competitive sourcing.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: B.E./B.Tech (Electrical) + MBA in Supply Chain/Operations (preferred)
- Experience: 10–12 years in procurement, with minimum 5 years in solar/renewable energy EPC
- Experience with Indian Railways as client will be an added advantage
- Skills:
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Deep understanding of solar components and supply chain risks
- Proficiency in ERP/SAP systems
- Strong vendor network in the solar sector
- Analytical thinking and leadership ability
Preferred Certifications
- Supply Chain Certifications (e.g., CSCP, CPIM)
- PMP or other project management credentials (optional but beneficial)
