Job Description:
Key Responsibilities
- Installation: Install electrical systems, wiring, outlets, lighting, and control panels in new or existing structures.
- Maintenance & Repair: Diagnose and fix electrical issues, replace faulty components (wires, switches, motors), and perform preventative upkeep.
- Troubleshooting: Use testing devices to identify malfunctions in electrical grids and equipment.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Read and follow complex electrical diagrams, schematics, and blueprints.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure all work meets local, state, and national building codes and safety standards (like the NEC).
- System Design: Assist in planning and designing electrical layouts for projects.
- Documentation: Maintain records of installations, repairs, and supply usage.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with electrical tools, testing equipment, and knowledge of electrical theory.
- Education: High school diploma plus technical training/certification and an apprenticeship are common.
- Licensing: Valid electrician license as required by jurisdiction.
- Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, communication, and teamwork.
