Job Description Summary
The Senior Field Services Project Director serves as GE Hitachi Nuclear's (GEH) single point of contact and senior onsite leader for all field service execution at assigned customer nuclear sites. This role owns end-to-end outage project execution across multiple P&L organizations, ensuring seamless integration of GEH services throughout the full outage lifecycle — from pre-outage planning through post-outage close-out.
The Project Director is accountable for contract management, logistics and deliveries, and on-site execution, serving as the primary liaison between GEH's internal service organizations and the customer's Outage Management team. This individual brings strategic leadership and operational discipline to drive performance, alignment, and results during refueling outages.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Responsible for all aspects of project delivery for Field Services Projects including ITO & OTR, with direct accountability for financial performance, cost forecasting, and margin management across all assigned scopes
- Direct liaison supporting customer owned tooling preventative maintenance and advanced tooling sales
- Acts as the onsite single point of contact for all GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy scope, serving as the primary commercial and operational liaison between GEH and the customer's outage organization
- Attends and leads customer meetings where GE Hitachi is a stakeholder, including T+ and T− Outage Readiness meetings to ensure alignment on schedule, scope, and deliverables
- Champion and lead continuous improvement initiatives related to refueling outage performance, driving measurable reductions in cost, schedule risk, and rework across the services business
- Provide oversight and direction of GEH Project Managers assigned to support the same customer projects, ensuring consistent application of project controls and commercial accountability
- Enforce GEH project controls procedures and contract management standards to ensure scope compliance, project change request governance, and successful project outcomes
- Develop and maintain a customer KPI alignment strategy, establishing shared performance metrics that reflect GEH's commitment to safety, quality, schedule, and cost competitiveness within the services business
- Assist the customer in planning, scheduling, and budgeting, while actively identifying opportunities to optimize GEH resource utilization and financial outcomes
- Ensure GEH improvement programs are being implemented at customer sites (e.g., Human Performance, Foreign Materials Exclusion, Lessons Learned, Cost Reduction Initiatives, and KPI Reporting frameworks)
- Perform other assignments as business needs dictate
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in engineering discipline and a minimum of 10 years of experience in nuclear outage / maintenance, including demonstrated exposure to project financials and contract execution, OR a High School Diploma with a minimum of 15 years of experience in GE Hitachi Nuclear Outage Services core functions.
- Prior experience in Project Management / Supervision for nuclear refueling outages, with a working knowledge of contract terms, change management, and budget oversight
- Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access to US and International Nuclear Power Plants
- 5+ years of experience in either BWR Reactor Modifications or Vessel Disassembly/Reassembly and In-Vessel Maintenance Activities
Desired Characteristics
- Bachelor of Science degree in engineering discipline, preferably Marine, Mechanical, or Industrial
- Strong decision-making skills, self-starter, and highly organized with the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple P&L organizations simultaneously
- Knowledge of GEH systems, products, services, and processes including the Corrective Action Process, Foreign Materials Exclusion program requirements, and financial reporting tools used within the services business
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present performance data, financial summaries, and KPI results to both customer and GEH leadership
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to influence outcomes, drive accountability, and foster a culture of continuous improvement across cross-functional teams
