Due to our continued success and growth ambitions, we are searching for Country Manager to lead all our activities in South Korea.The Country Manager will be working very closely with our Head of APAC, as well as our business development, tendering and engineering teams across the APAC region and globally. The primary work location will be in Seoul, with some travelling, both domestic and international, as . Details about the role and responsibilities are outlined below.
Role Purpose
The Country Manager is responsible for leading and growing Wood Thilsted’s business in South Korea. This role combines strategic leadership, commercial accountability, client relationship management, and operational oversight, ensuring sustainable growth while maintaining high technical and safety standards.
The Country Manager acts as the senior representative of the business locally, building a strong market presence, developing talent, and aligning country operations with the company’s global strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Market Leadership
- Develop and execute the country-level strategyaligned with the local market and Wood Thilsted’s global company strategy.
- Identify and pursue opportunities across the offshore wind project lifecycle (development, concept design, FEED, detailed design, fabrication/construction, T&I and O&M).
- Monitor market trends, regulatory frameworks and competitor activity to inform strategic decisions.
- Represent the company in industry forums, client meetings, and with key stakeholders.
Business Development & Commercial Management
- Set and deliver development and growth targets that drive long-term success.
- Build and maintain senior relationships with international and local developers, utilities, EPCs and OEMs.
- Lead bid strategies for major offshore wind projects, including pricing, risk review, and contractual negotiations.
- Support cross-border pursuits and collaboration with other country and regional teams.
Operational & Technical Oversight
- Ensure high-quality delivery of engineering consultancy services relating to an offshore wind development.
- Oversee project performanceand delivery in a Project Director/Owner role.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, permits, and corporate governance requirements.
Team Leadership and Development
- Build, lead, and retain a high-performing local team of engineers and project managers.
- Create a strong culture of collaboration, technical excellence, and inclusion.
- Support recruitment, performance management, succession planning, and professional development.
- Act as a role model for company values and leadership behaviours.
Required Experience & Qualifications
Essential
- Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Leadership experience within the offshore windenergy industry in South Korea with strong local network.
- Proven track record of business growth, client relationship developmentand commercial management.
- Strong understanding of the offshore wind market, project lifecycle, and commercial drivers.
- Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
- Excellent communication skills, in both Korean and English.
Desirable
- Chartered or professionally accredited.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary technical teams.
- International business experience.
