Who are we looking for?
Our energy systems are changing, and this change will need to accelerate if national and international decarbonization goals are to be met. One exciting element of the ‘Future Energy’ landscape is the potential for hydrogen to become an important energy vector in a net zero energy system.
The low-carbon hydrogen sector is diverse and complex. It involves:
- A range of technologies and process for hydrogen production, including both ‘green’ and ‘blue’ hydrogen systems.
- A wide range of possible end-uses for hydrogen is a range of sectors, including all sorts of industries, domestic/residential heating, transport, and as part of a flexible electricity system.
- A wide range of considerations associated with transport, storage, transmission and distribution.
- Many commercial, economic, policy and regulatory issues that need to be resolved before we will see an active hydrogen economy emerge.
- The potential for international trade of hydrogen, with shipping in various forms, including liquefied gas, or ammonia as a hydrogen carrier, and a rapidly changing landscape with technology, policy and regulatory innovation.
There are main technical, commercial and policy themes that need to be considered in this hydrogen landscape.
GHD is an active participant in the hydrogen sector in many parts of the world, including Australia, North America and in the Europe & Middle East region.
