Position Summary
As the Director of Engineering at FIMER, you will lead the technical interface between customers, sales, and product teams for utility-scale and repowering solar projects. This role is critical in driving technical credibility, enabling sales success, and ensuring the successful deployment of FIMER solutions across the U.S. market.
You will oversee the Engineering function, manage and mentor a growing team, and lead technical design efforts-particularly for repowering projects where legacy systems are upgraded with modern inverter solutions. Additionally, you will play a key role in establishing and scaling the U.S. Applications Engineering lab to support customer demonstrations, internal training, and future service capabilities.
This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership role that combines technical expertise, customer engagement, and strategic execution.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and grow the Applications Engineering team (initially managing one engineer, with future expansion expected).
- Establish best practices, processes, and performance metrics for the team.
- Foster a high-performance, customer-focused engineering culture.
Technical Leadership & Project Execution
- Lead U.S. technical design efforts for utility-scale and repowering projects, ensuring optimal system performance and integration.
- Provide technical oversight on system design, including inverter selection, plant architecture, and grid compliance.
- Support feasibility analysis and technical risk assessments for new and existing projects.
- Serve as the escalation point for complex technical challenges.
Customer & Sales Support
- Act as a senior technical advisor in customer meetings, presentations, and negotiations.
- Partner closely with Sales to support deal strategy, RFP responses, and solution positioning.
- Translate customer requirements into technically viable and competitive solutions.
- Build strong relationships with developers, EPCs, and key stakeholders.
Applications Engineering Lab Development
- Lead the design and build-out of the U.S. Applications Engineering lab at the Charlotte headquarters.
- Develop the lab to support:
- Customer demonstrations and validation testing
- Internal training programs
- Future repair and service capabilities
- Ensure the lab supports both current and future business needs.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with Product Management, R&D, and Service teams to align product capabilities with market needs.
- Provide feedback from the field to influence product roadmap and improvements.
- Support standardization of tools, templates, and engineering workflows.
Process Improvement & Innovation
- Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, tools, and documentation.
- Develop scalable solutions for both new installations and repowering projects.
- Promote innovation in system design and application methodologies.
