Role Overview
The Production Assistant Manager supports the day-to-day running of manufacturing operations, ensuring production is carried out safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards.
This role combines team leadership with hands-on involvement in production processes and equipment. The successful candidate will oversee operations, support problem-solving on the shop floor, and help maintain consistent output within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Head of Manufacturing in the daily management of production operations
- Supervise production activities to ensure output, quality, and efficiency targets are met
- Lead and support production teams to maintain safe and effective working practices
- Oversee the operation of production equipment and processes
- Identify and help resolve operational or process issues to minimise disruption
- Ensure production aligns with agreed plans and schedules
- Maintain high standards of hygiene, housekeeping, and compliance
- Ensure accurate completion of production records and documentation
- Carry out in-process checks to maintain product quality
- Support training and development of production staff
- Work cross-functionally to improve processes, efficiency, and performance
- Support implementation and adherence to quality and safety standards
Skills and Experience
- Experience supervising or supporting manufacturing or production teams
- Exposure to production processes and equipment
- Background in manufacturing environments such as food, pharmaceutical, or similar industries is beneficial
- Strong problem-solving skills and practical mindset
- Ability to lead, motivate, and support teams
- Good organisational and communication skills
Education
- Secondary education or equivalent
- Relevant vocational or technical qualifications are advantageous
