Position Overview Sierra Logistics Company LLC is seeking an Environmental Compliance Lead to support Utility Vegetation Management (UVM) operations across Southern California. This role is responsible for ensuring all field activities comply with environmental regulations, client requirements (including SCE standards), and site-specific environmental constraints. The Environmental Compliance Lead plays a critical role in protecting sensitive resources, preventing environmental incidents, and ensuring all work is executed in full compliance with regulatory and contractual obligations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review records in Work Management Tool to determine Environmental approval
- Pursues release of environmentally held structures
- Coordinates with managing agencies
- Developing, conducting, and ensuring annual environmental orientation and training completion; Ensures delivery of required environmental training for employees and subcontractors
- Implementing, maintaining, evaluating, and investigating the effectiveness of all environmental compliance
- Providing technical knowledge and explain applicable environmental regulations
- Interfacing with clients regarding environmental performance, incident investigation and general communications
- Performing field observations to assess company procedures and controls are meeting the environmental compliance requirements
- Oversees implementation of the Environmental Handbook for Contractors
- Develops corrective action plans for non-conformances
- Collaborates with SCE on environmental audits, performance issues, and incident investigations; Promptly reports and investigates Environmental Events
- Implements and maintains the Environmental Compliance Plan (ECP)
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Forestry, Natural Resources, or related field, or equivalent experience;
- Minimum 3-5 years of environmental compliance experience in:
- Utility Vegetation Management, forestry, construction, or similar field operations
- Strong knowledge of:
- Environmental regulations related to protected species, waterways, and land use
- Environmental compliance in field-based operations
- Proven experience with:
- Environmental incident investigations and corrective action tracking
- Developing or implementing Environmental Compliance Plans
- Field compliance inspections and audits
- Experience working with environmental reporting systems (e.g., Enablon or similar)
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to field sites
