SummaryThe Sustainability Assessment Specialist will support Kraus-Anderson’s (KA) efforts in providing energy audit reports, sustainability assessments facility condition reports, and supporting the department’s efforts in project planning, project accounting, business development and ensuring compliance with all KA quality and safety standards
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Collect and analyze utility bills and calculate energy use intensity, develop charts and presentation materials to inform ownership of consumption trends
- Identify, evaluate and life-cycle cost low or no-cost energy conservation measures through the assessment effort and present findings to ownership
- Identify relevant utility incentives based on project location and integrate financial benefit into energy calculations
- Analyze building waste systems, cleaning, procurement, transportation and other systems for their environmental impact and offer alternatives for further organizational alignment
- Inspect facility systems and materials including but not limited to; site conditions, building structure, exterior envelope, interior finishes, fire protection, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, conveyance, technology, various building infrastructure and systems.
- Create detailed maintenance and energy reports to assist owner in long term facility planning.
- Estimate costs and prioritize for repair, replacement, and maintenance of building systems.
- Assist project team in facility master planning and budgeting to help identify facility needs beyond building repairs and maintenance versa building replacement.
- Integrate energy, sustainability and facilities findings into final FCA report to inform long-term facility planning
- Build and maintain a relationship with the client and review any deliverables from project team before distributing to the client.
- Communicates to the Senior Sustainability Manager, on future client and prospect consulting, service, or project opportunities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture, construction management, building operations, engineering, environmental science or a related field
- 2+ years of relevant experience.
- Knowledge of existing buildings, facility management, energy management, building automation controls, mechanical, electrical, & plumbing (MEP), and architectural systems
- Demonstrated computer proficiency (MS Office 365 – Word, Excel PowerPoint and Outlook) .
- Business development skills to support and grow this business effort.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
- Ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency and meet challenging work goals.
- Ability to maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
- Ability to possess and maintain exceptional work ethic as well as uphold company values and demand the highest standard of conduct from self and others.
- Ensure that all duties follow KA’s quality and safety standards.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Experience in architecture, construction management, building operations, energy efficiency, sustainability or engineering
- Association with Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA), International Facility Management Association (IFMA), Association for Energy Engineers (AEE), LEED AP with specialty, or American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) trade organizations.
Other:
- Valid Driver's License, ability to maintain a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record, and adhere to KA’s Motor Vehicle Policy
- Travel up to 25% of the time.

Salary Range: $71,000 to $87,000 annually, plus auto allowance and discretionary incentive program.
While the range listed represents the anticipated hiring range for this position, offers at the upper end of the range are uncommon. Pay is based on many factors including but not limited to education, skill, experience, training, certifications, and other business needs.
