Job DescriptionA Battery Changer (or Battery Technician) is responsible for the safe removal, installation, charging, and maintenance of industrial batteries used in warehouse equipment like forklifts and pallet jacks. They ensure maximum equipment uptime by monitoring water levels, cleaning battery terminals, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining a clean, safe, and compliant battery room while following OSHA safety protocols.
An employee in this position can expect to earn $19.00 (+$1 Shift Differential) per hour based on experience, skills and other factors permitted by law.

What You Do Battery Handling: Safely remove, replace, and install heavy industrial batteries using specialized equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, transfer carriages).
Charging & Maintenance: Connect batteries to charging stations, monitor charge levels, and fill batteries with water.
Cleaning & Safety: Clean battery terminals, racks, and trays to prevent corrosion; manage acid spills and maintain a safe, OSHA-compliant work area.
Inspection & Repairs: Perform basic diagnostics, check voltage/specific gravity, and repair or replace cables and connectors.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of battery maintenance, charging cycles, and inspection forms.
Knowledge & Experience Physical Strength: Ability to lift, push, or pull heavy loads (often 40+ lbs) and stand for long periods.
Technical Aptitude: Basic knowledge of electrical systems and ability to use tools (e.g., volt-ohm meters).
Safety Consciousness: Strict adherence to PPE requirements and safety procedures.
Experience: Previous experience in warehousing, material handling equipment (MHE), or maintenance is preferred.
