This position is located in Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve, in the Chalmette Battlefied and National Cemetary Division.
Major Duties
As a Utility Systems Repairer-Operator, you will perform the following duties: Installs, maintains, tests, troubleshoots, repairs, and calibrates a variety of complex utility systems such as conditioning equipment, heating and boiler systems, and wastewater treatment. Determines such things as sedimentary characteristics, flow rates, pH, and heavy metals. Oversees the installation, maintenance, and repair of a variety of equipment such as masticators/grinders, filters, regulators, pumps, valves, chemical feed machines, chlorinators, and aeration equipment (fans, air injection, oxygenation). Operates a centralized, multiple zone air conditioning system. Serves as the "operator in charge" over wastewater treatment plants. Operates heavy equipment such as graders, tractors with bulldozer or angle dozerblades, front-end loaders, backhoes, trench diggers, large industrial tractors with pan or scraper attachments to push, pull, pile, or load materials such as sand, gravel, earth, coal, or refuse. Completes wastewater treatment processes that remove nitrogen, phosphorous, soluble chemicals, oils, and heavy metals such as copper and chrome.
