This position is located in Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve, in the Chalmette Battlefied and National Cemetary Division.
Major Duties
As a Utility Systems Repairer-Operator, you will perform the following duties: Installs, maintains, tests, troubleshoots, repairs, and calibrates a variety of utility systems that require intermediate to journey level skills in various utility related trades such as air conditioning, heating and boiler systems, wastewater treatment, and engineering equipment operation. Performs lower-level duties in a variety of trades as well as some administrative functions. Repairs and operates utility systems such as air conditioning, heating and boiler systems, and wastewater treatment. Operates heavy equipment such as graders, tractors with bulldozer or angle dozerblades. Provides secondary treatment of wastewater. Operate and perform minor maintenance on a variety of equipment such as masticators/grinders, filters, regulators, pumps, valves, chemical feed machines, chlorinators, and aeration equipment (fans, air injection, oxygenation). Manually dig ditches for repair and installation of utility lines. Monitor annual contracts with utility related suppliers.
