The Senior Technical Writer will be responsible for research and preparation of technical due diligence reports under the guidance of an Environmental Professional (EP). Reports are written to convey scientific and other technical information in a way that can be understood by the average reader.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepare, review, proofread, and modify technical due diligence reports and proposals in accordance with applicable requirements.
- Provide a consistent work product according to ECT's styles and standards.
- Review and summarize previous reports, historical and regulatory records, and other documentation as related to each project.
- Conduct telephone and/or email interviews with property owners, occupants, key site personnel, and federal, state, and local government officials to obtain information concerning the environmental conditions related to a property.
- Recognize and identify environmental issues based on information provided by the assessor, EP, research, and interviews.
- Maintain communication with supervisor and/or project manager to keep them informed of any actual or potential concerns, including continuous updates of report status.
- Perform regulatory and technical research as needed to support various projects.
- Support fieldwork, proposal writing, report review, as appropriate.
- Communicate internally to secure work necessary to maintain a full schedule of billable work to meet set goals.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree: technical or professional writing, history, English, environmental studies, or related with emphasis on writing and research.
- 7+ years of experience in environmental reporting.
Job Requirements:
- Ability to learn primarily through verbal instruction, training, reading, researching and observation in an on-the-job setting.
- Document and organize while working on multiple projects.
- Learn to use new computer programs or software such as the Quire report writing platform.
- Knowledge of Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), Phase II ESAs, Critical Issues Analyses (CIAs), Site Characterization Studies (SCS), Environmental Assessments (EAs).
- Knowledge of proper business English, spelling, and grammar; Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel; Adobe PDF or similar; and various Internet browsers.
- Field experience (e.g., site reconnaissance, sampling) a plus.
