As an Associate, Operational Reliability Compliance (Electrical Engineer) you will support Invenergy’s Reliability Compliance program for the entire Invenergy fleet with an emphasis on electricity generation regulatory requirements (NERC, ERCOT, PJM, & IESO) associated real time operations and modeling. Based out of our downtown Chicago office, the Associate will use their engineering expertise, technical writing, and critical thinking to complete the job responsibilities with limited managerial oversight.
Responsibilities
Actively participate in real-time operational compliance monitoring activities supporting thermal facilities
Coordinate and review compliance with NERC Operations and Planning Reliability Standards for thermal facilities
Interpret engineering drawings and manufacturers specifications
Responsible for providing interpretation and guidance on technical documentation
Partner with internal groups (Engineering, Operations, and Asset Management) to communicate changes or updates that require action by the projects.
Conduct ad hoc independent research on industry trends and adjacent rules
Support the implementation of Invenergy’s NERC Internal Compliance Program, including validating adherence to standards, supporting audits, maintaining records, performing due diligence, and managing internal controls
Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Required Skills
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related discipline
3+ years of direct Electrical Engineering application experience
Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred Skills
3+ years of relevant NERC compliance experience
Prior knowledge of applicable NERC, ERCOT, & IESO standards
Willingness to travel between 5-10%
Critical thinking skills with the ability to identify and solve complex problems with limited managerial oversight
Demonstrated project management skills
Strong interpersonal skills with the desire to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and to meet deadlines
Excellent organizational, presentation/facilitation, verbal, and written communication skills
Proficient in the use of MS 365 and Project Management tools
Strong familiarity with modeling applications such as PSCAD, PSS/E, and ASPEN
Prior Experience with Technical Engineering work, working at a Utility, and/or knowledge of renewable power systems.
Prior experience working within the modeling group and/or Relay Design team.
Prior experience working at a NERC Registered Entity in a role requiring compliance demonstration
100,000.00 - 120,000.00 USD Annual
Bonus: 20% - 30%
The base pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for the position. Invenergy considers a number of factors when determining base pay offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education and skills.
