DescriptionCreate your best future and join Westpac as an Associate, Sustainability - WIB
What’s the role?
The Associate Sustainability assesses and reviews sustainability risks for institutional bank customers and ensures compliance with Westpac’s sustainability requirements. This role also supports the integration of sustainability into frontline practices and the management of non‑financial risk.
As part of the Risk & Transaction stream, you will perform sustainability due diligence on higher‑risk customers, assess transactions that impact our financed‑emissions targets and support portfolio climate risk reviews. You will partner with WIB bankers, second line Risk functions, and Group teams to deliver on Westpac’s sustainability values.
This is a permanent fulltime Sydney based role.
What do I need?
- 2 plus years’ experience in transaction screening or customer due diligence in banking, financial services or consulting (roles in adjacent industries requiring similar skill sets will be considered).
- Demonstrated interest, knowledge or experience with sustainability themes, responsible banking or responsible investment (additional sustainability specific education would be well regarded but not required).
- Someone who has a risk mindset with commercial acumen and analytical skills, who is comfortable with data, digital tools (incl. AI) and process driven environments.
- Ability to engage stakeholders (namely frontline bankers) and translate complex or subjective topics clearly, with well‑reasoned rationale.
- You may be an experienced Analyst or Associate who is comfortable and highly efficient managing your day-to-day tasks but is looking for an opportunity to get into a sustainability focused role in a banking environment.
