This role is part of the Amazon Infrastructure Supply Chain (AIS) organization, the team responsible for planning, sourcing, and delivering the physical infrastructure that powers Amazon Web Services and Amazon's global operations. Within AIS, this role sits in the Amazon Commodities Program (ACP) team, which owns the supply chain and commercial strategy for key hardware categories critical to server and data center infrastructure.
As Senior Manager, Data Center Energy Storage, you will lead the strategy, supply chain, and operational execution for Battery Backup Units (BBUs) and Supercapacitor systems, while building the organizational capability to scale into next-generation Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) as our infrastructure evolves. You will be a results-oriented leader responsible for operational support, performance management, supplier development, and full lifecycle management of energy storage products that are critical to AWS data center reliability and growth.
You will lead internal engagements across Supply Chain, Engineering, and Business organizations while diving deep into the technologies and operations from both a product and supply chain perspective. You will work closely with Hardware Engineering, Capacity Planning, Finance, Trade & Compliance, Strategic Sourcing, Manufacturing Design Engineering, Test Engineering, and other cross-functional teams to develop and execute a world-class energy storage supply chain. You will analyze trends involving industry players — cell manufacturers, system integrators, sub-tier material suppliers, and emerging technology providers — to develop strategies that secure supply, reduce cost, minimize risk, and capitalize on emerging opportunities, allowing AWS to meet and exceed its infrastructure goals.
This role requires a strategic thinker who can develop sourcing plans and clear actions to drive the lowest total cost of ownership fueling the exponential growth across AWS data centers. The ideal candidate will have a large-scale technical supply chain management background with deep domain expertise in energy storage, be detail-oriented, skilled at global supply chain strategies, and excel in creative problem solving, negotiations, and program management. They will thrive in a fast-paced environment, creatively solve complex issues, and build scalable mechanisms of continuous improvement.
This position will serve as a key member of the AWS supply chain organization, which includes creating an inclusive and engaged team, supporting the career development of team members, and continually raising the bar when recruiting for the organization.
