Technical Support Lead
Location: Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
ABOUT THE POSITION:
Fluence Energy is a leading provider of cutting-edge battery energy storage solutions, dedicated to revolutionizing energy management. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated technical support lead to join our team in Australia. As the technical support lead, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring seamless operation and technical support of our energy storage systems, while driving improvements in fault recovery, maintenance, and standardization across the region.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Act as the primary technical escalation point across all Australia sites, supporting field service engineers, technicians, and asset managers with complex energy storage system faults.
- Develop and improve fault recovery systems using data-driven insights to proactively detect issues and minimize system downtime.
- Enhance reactive maintenance processes to reduce response times and improve overall system reliability.
- Standardize technical processes and maintenance procedures across all sites to ensure consistency and operational efficiency.
- Interface with customers to clearly communicate technical issues, manage expectations, and address requests effectively.
- Support the Services team with change orders and contribute technical input where required.
- Maintain strong relationships with equipment vendors, participate in vendor meetings negotiations to ensure the timely resloutions of technical issues.
- Collaborate with the Network Operations Centre to improve fault recovery procedures and develop training programs for stronger incident response.
- Provide technical expertise during commissioning of new BESS installations, including testing, validation, optimization, and resolving issues to ensure smooth project handover.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
- Experience in the renewable energy industry, ideally within field services or operations.
- Strong knowledge of battery energy storage systems (BESS), including components and maintenance practices.
- Understanding of commissioning processes, with the ability to provide technical support during commissioning activities.
- Solid knowledge of high-voltage systems, HV switching procedures, and relevant safety standards.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with proven experience collaborating across teams and managing vendor relationships and negotiations.
- Ability to work in fast-paced environments, adapt to changing priorities, and willingness to travel across Australia and the APAC region as required.
