Job Requirements
A Doctorate (NQF level 10) in Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering or Sustainable and Renewable Energy Systems with a minimum of seven (7) years’ relevant experience in research, teaching and learning, and/or industry. A distinguished research profile comprising twenty-five (25) accredited publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals, books, book chapters, conference proceedings, patents, or other forms of recognised intellectual outputs, of which ten (10) must have been published within the last five (5) years. Proven success in supervising seven (7) postgraduate students at NQF Level 9 or 10, of which at least one (1) doctoral graduate (NQF 10), and at least three (3) Master’s graduates supervised as main supervisor. A proven track record of securing funding for research, innovation, and entrepreneurship, with evidence of successfully securing competitive grants, leading research initiatives, and contributing to curriculum development and review. Evidence of sustained collaborative partnerships within the past five (5) years, including joint postgraduate supervision, teaching, and learning collaborations, and engagement in joint research and innovation projects with local or international universities, research institutions, NGOs, communities, or industry partners. Excellent English communication skills, strong interpersonal and leadership capabilities, and proficiency in relevant technologies. Provide a comprehensive portfolio of evidence demonstrating meaningful contributions to institutional development, including policy development, strategic planning, curriculum review and development, accreditation and quality assurance processes, and capacity building initiatives. Demonstrated competence in developing high-quality course materials and the ability to teach at least three (3) of the following modules at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels: Energy Systems, Solar Energy Resources and Technologies, Sustainable Development, Participatory Mapping and GIS, Wind and Ocean Engineering and Energy Management. Evidence of strong academic leadership, the ability to build and sustain professional networks, maintain robust links with industry, and contribute significantly to the advancement of postgraduate programmes, along with a commitment to community engagement and professional service within the field of specialisation. A Google Scholar h-index of 10 will be advantageous.

All qualifications must be certified by the Police within the last three (3) months, A Police Clearance Certificate (Certificate of Conduct) not older than six (6) months must accompany all applications. All foreign qualifications must be validated by the Namibia Qualifications Authority (NQA). The normal retirement age is 65. Non-Namibian candidates who are deemed suitable for appointment will be offered a contract of five (5) years.
