The Green Energy Department Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing the daily operations, performance, and growth of the company’s green energy division. This role manages staff, coordinates projects, supports sales and business development efforts, ensures high-quality customer service, drives departmental efficiency and profitability, managing the evolving nature of NYSERDA directives. The ideal candidate has strong leadership skills, operational experience, and a solid understanding of green energy systems, programs, and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities

Manage the day-to-day operations of the Green Energy Department

Supervise, train, and support department staff, including field and office team members

Develop and implement departmental goals, processes, and performance standards

Oversee project planning, scheduling, and completion to ensure timelines and quality expectations are met

Monitor department budgets, costs, revenue, and overall profitability

Work closely with team to support estimates, proposals, and customer solutions

Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and applicable regulations

Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, vendors, subcontractors, and utility/program partners

Review department performance metrics and identify opportunities for improvement and growth
-
Address customer concerns and resolve issues in a professional and timely manner

Stay informed on green energy technologies, market trends, rebates, and incentive programs

Collaborate with leadership on strategic planning and expansion of green energy services

Assist in hiring, onboarding, and performance management of department employees
Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, construction management, sustainability, or related field preferred

0–3 years of management or leadership experience, preferably in energy, HVAC, construction, home performance, solar, or related industry

Strong knowledge of green energy programs, energy efficiency solutions, and sustainable technologies

Experience managing teams, workflows, budgets, and customer relationships

Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills

Ability to analyze data, track KPIs, and make operational improvements

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other business or project management software

Valid driver’s license is required

Building Performance Institute Certification preferred
Preferred Skills:

Experience with residential or commercial energy efficiency programs

Knowledge of rebates, incentives, and utility-sponsored energy programs

Familiarity with building science, electrification, insulation, solar, or high-efficiency HVAC systems

Strong leadership and team development abilities

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities
Physical Requirements:
