Position Summary
Reporting to the Director, Operations & Events, the Operations & Events Supervisor plays a key role in the day-to-day delivery of events and site operations at The Bentway.
Working closely with the Events Manager and Facilities Manager, this role supports the execution of third-party rental events, internal programming, and general site operations across all Bentway sites. The Operations & Events Supervisor helps ensure that events and activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with The Bentway’s operational standards and visitor experience goals.
This role provides on-the-ground coordination during events, assists with supervising seasonal staff and contractors, and supports operational planning and logistics across the department.
The position requires a flexible, solutions-oriented individual who thrives in a dynamic public space environment and is comfortable balancing event coordination with operational responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
Event Operations & Delivery
- Support the operational planning and execution of third-party rental events and internal Bentway programming.
- Assist the Manager, Events with event logistics including site layouts, equipment coordination, vendor access, and operational planning.
- Act as an on-site supervisor during events, overseeing setup, execution, and teardown.
- Ensure events comply with venue guidelines, municipal regulations, and safety requirements.
- Support the implementation of event safety plans, including crowd management and emergency procedures where required.
- Coordinate with clients, vendors, and contractors on-site to ensure smooth event delivery.
- Assist with event documentation including checklists, event logs, incident reports, and post-event summaries.
- Monitor site conditions during events and troubleshoot operational issues as they arise.
Third-Party Event Support
- Assist with site visits and event preparation meetings with clients and vendors.
- Support the implementation of client event requirements including infrastructure, utilities, staffing, and access needs.
- Ensure that permits, insurance documentation, and operational approvals are in place prior to events.
- Serve as an on-site contact for clients during event delivery when required.
- Facilities & Site Operations Support
- Support day-to-day site operations in collaboration with the Facilities team.
- Assist with coordinating site logistics including deliveries, equipment movement, and operational setup.
- Provide occasional supervision of facilities staff and seasonal site staff when required.
- Monitor site conditions and report maintenance or safety issues to the Facilities Manager.
- Assist with maintaining operational supplies, tools, and equipment.
- Support seasonal operations including winter skating activities where needed.
Staff Supervision & Coordination
- Assist with supervising seasonal event and site staff during events and activations.
- Support staff training related to event operations, safety procedures, and site protocols.
- Assist with staff scheduling for events and operational shifts when required.
- Ensure staff adhere to operational procedures and health and safety protocols.
Administration & Coordination
- Maintain event documentation including run-of-show documents, operational checklists, and event reports.
- Assist with updating internal calendars and operational schedules related to events.
- Support cross-department coordination to ensure event and operational needs are met.
- Contribute to the ongoing improvement of operational procedures and event workflows.
Health & Safety
- Support the implementation and enforcement of Bentway health and safety procedures.
- Monitor site safety during events and report hazards or incidents.
- Participate in safety briefings and operational training for staff and contractors.
Other
- Other duties as assigned related to the operation of Bentway sites and the programs, activations, and events hosted by The Bentway.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years experience in event operations, venue operations, or public space programming.
- Experience supporting live events, festivals, or public programming in outdoor or multi-use spaces.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate logistics and troubleshoot operational challenges in real time.
- Experience supervising staff, volunteers, or contractors.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of event safety practices and municipal event requirements is an asset.
- Familiarity with permits, insurance requirements, and public event regulations is an asset.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Current Standard First Aid/CPR-C (or willingness to obtain).
- Valid Class G driver’s license in good standing is an asset.
Compensation
Salary: $56,000/year
Benefits package after the completion of a probation period.
