Essential Job Functions
The Summer ZooTeen Supervisorwill assistwith the overall supervision and execution of the summerZooTeen program, a program that exposes youth from the City of Boston to viable career opportunitiesin zoology, conservation, and education fields. The Summer ZooTeen Supervisor provides quality educational support, mentorship, and career guidance to teens between the ages of 14-18for a seven-week educationalsummer employment program under the direction of the Youth Programs Manager at Zoo New England’s Franklin Park Zoo.
ZooTeen Supervisors will attend orientation on Monday June 22ndand work up to 30 hours a week between June 24th and August 24, 2026.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Cultivate professional relationships with ZooTeenDepartment Supervisors and other staff at the Franklin Park Zoo
- ImplementZooTeenpolicies and procedures
- Review schedules, ZooTeenworkshop materials, and important prior correspondence with Zoo departments
- Complete programmatic trainings, includingi.e.interpretation, presentation/facilitation, and mentorship and coaching
- Lead and co-facilitate professional development workshops for summer ZooTeens
- Provide evaluation, coaching, and feedbacktoZooTeens on performance and advocate for their needs and interests
- Provide guidance and direction to participants as it relates to their job function
- Follow-up withZooTeensabout completingappropriate paperwork, surveys, and weekly timesheets
- Assistwith the overallsupervision of theZooTeenProgram
- Coordinate and co-supervise activities and special field trips with partner organizations
- All otherdutiespertaining totheZooTeenprogramas assigned bytheYouth Programs Manager
Minimum Job Requirements
- A self-motivated individual with excellent writing, speaking, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Experience working with youth ages 14-18from the City of Boston
- Experience with administrative tasks
- Applicants must be interested in working with youth, be outgoing, creative, and energetic
- Able to act as a role model for ZooTeens
Preferred Job Requirements
- Student working toward their Bachelor's degree in education, STEAM fields, or environmental science
- Fluency in Spanish or Haitian Creole
SuccessLinkLeaderswill be paid $20 per hour and can work for a maximum of 30 hours per week. This position is completelyfunded by the Department of Youth Engagement and Employment’s SuccessLinkYouth Employment Program.
All candidates must be a full-time resident of the City of Boston and must be at least 19 years old& cannot turn 25 years of age on or before September 1, 2026 – no exceptions.
