Position Summary
The Diesel Mechanic plays a critical role in keeping our operations running safely and efficiently. In this hands-on position, you will troubleshoot, inspect, repair, and maintain heavy equipment and support machinery used at our transfer station and material recovery facilities.

Your Role
- Diagnose and troubleshoot heavy equipment and diesel-powered machinery
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and other mechanical components
- Conduct welding and fabrication work as needed
- Inspect equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation
- Complete work orders and maintenance documentation accurately
- Follow all safety procedures and actively contribute to maintaining a safe work environment
- Participate in weekly safety meetings and other company meetings
- Perform additional maintenance or repair duties as needed to support operations
- Maintains reasonable, regular, punctual attendance consistent with Company policies, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and other federal, state,e and local standards.
- Adapts to changing duties, as required, based on business needs.
Your Skills
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Experience working with diesel engines, heavy equipment, and hydraulic systems
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, jacking equipment, and diagnostic tools
- Ability to read and understand service manuals and parts diagrams
- Strong attention to detail and ability to document maintenance work clearly
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and physically demanding environments
Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Driver's License
- Must provide your own tools
- ASE Certification
- 2-5 years of experience in a transportation, fleet, or heavy equipment environment
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
Preferred Qualifications
- CDL Class B
- Tow Motor Certification
- Air Brake Certification
