Role Overview |
As an EH&S Associate you will be responsible for supporting EHS management and ensuring that your assigned tasks are executed in a timely and professional manner. You will also need to ensure that Federal, State and Local regulations are adhered to. You will be required to attend webinars and training classes. |
Areas of Responsibility |
Environmental Health & Safety - Compliance Assurance: Ensure employee compliance with company safety policies and programs.
- Regulatory Compliance: Perform or assist in the performance of EHS audits to ensure all regulatory compliance items are adhered to. Research all local/state/federal/OSHA codes and regulations for compliance changes.
- Incidents / Accidents: Respond to incidents and accidents, provide aid if required and complete all documentation.
- Reporting: Complete EHS reports in a timely manner.
- Permits: Maintain and update records for environmental permits. May need to submit for permit renewals.
- Investigations & Problem Solving: Perform or assist in investigations and ensure the root cause is identified. Implement corrective actions to ensure the root causes are eliminated.
- Training: Perform safety training courses, including certification training for forklifts (we may provide Train the Trainer).
- Documentation: Ensure all documentation is properly executed and maintained for, but not limited to, permitting, training, and incidents.
- Inspections:Perform daily, weekly, and monthly safety inspections to ensure employees and departments remain in compliance.
- Assessments: Perform or assist in general, process, hazardous waste, and laboratory risk assessment.
- Environmental & Social Governance (ESG): Will perform duties associated with Environmental and Social Governance (ESG), such as but not limited to data collection.
- Interdepartmental Interaction: Perform safety talks with employees.
- Other: All other safety-related work such as policies/procedures.
People - Foster Collaboration: Create an environment that respects and values diverse backgrounds.
- Effective Communication: Establish and maintain effective relationships with peers, team members, and senior management.
- Goal Setting: Align goals and objectives with the organization for self, deliver progress status to management.
- Communication: Maintain open lines of communication with employees in other departments, peers and management. Able to explain policies and regulations to employees to ensure understanding

Requirements |
Education & Qualification: - Completed/Completing an EH&S bachelor’s degree, with 3 years’ experience; or have an associate’s degree with 5 years of experience.
- Have a degree that is relatable to EH&S (environmental, chemical, sciences Etc.) and minimum of 3 years’ experience in the role of Health & Safety.
- Experience with Industrial Hygiene is preferred.
- OSHA: 30 hours is preferred.
- First Aid / CPR / AED valid certification is a plus and would be required in this role. Training will be provided if needed.
- Some management experience is preferred.
Skills & Ability - Work well with others and independently.
- Self-motivated.
- Effective communication skills are necessary.
- Read, write, and comprehend English. Additional languages are a plus.
- Organized and disciplined, ensuring accuracy and timelines.
- Driver’s License and own transportation is a plus, USPL currently has four sites within two miles.
- Able to interpret Safety Data Sheets is a plus.
- Able to use Microsoft Office programs.
Physical Requirements (lifting, etc.): - Able to sit, stand, walk, and climb stairs.
- Must be able to walk for extended periods of time, both indoors and outdoors.
- Must be able to wear safety shoes and other types of personal protection equipment.
- Able to lift 35 lbs.
Work Environment (Office, Warehouse, temperature extremes, etc.): - Will be associated with the office, warehouse, manufacturing, packaging, and laboratory areas.
- Will perform outdoor site inspections.
