Responsibilities
Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) are responsible for: Creating or, when applicable, utilizing the list of course learning outcomes Writing a course syllabus Recording video lectures Designing engaging visual representations to support student learning Creating interactive assignments, group activities, presentations, and discussion board topics that deepen student understanding and build community Designing assessments to measure learning outcomes Creating an instructor guide to assist course facilitators Providing expert knowledge in strategy and sustainability Developing learning modules that guide students through their educational experience while upholding the CPS commitment to student success Analyzing best practices in online environmental economics education Applying curriculum design experience, including familiarity with backward design principles Demonstrating skill in creating learning activities and meaningful assessments of student learning Exercising writing and editorial skills, including understanding of copyright issues Utilizing technical skills in generating and editing graphics/images Collaborating effectively and communicating clearly with the team Working independently once tasks are clearly explained Committing to weekly check-in meetings with the Instructional Design team and/or the program Participating in drafting a schedule for deliverables Meeting agreed-upon deadlines according to the master course development schedule Faculty are responsible for: Providing expert and graduate-level knowledge in strategy and sustainability Guiding students through their educational experience while upholding the CPS commitment to student success Responding to student inquiries in a timely manner, within 24 hours Facilitating class instruction by engaging in the online course portal at least five times per week Hosting a minimum of one hour of virtual office hours per week and at least two synchronous class sessions per semester Demonstrating excellent collaboration and communication skills Analyzing best practices in online strategy, sustainability, and leadership
Qualifications
Experience teaching online in an educational setting, with demonstrated expertise in curriculum development and assessment, and a passion for teaching strategy and sustainability Master’s degree in Business Administration, Sustainability Management, Environmental Studies/Policy, or a related field (PhD preferred) Minimum of three years of teaching experience in the relevant topic area Desire to motivate and encourage students in academic and professional settings Expertise in online teaching and a willingness to learn and apply new technological approaches to education Experience using the Brightspace/D2L Learning Management System preferred
