Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Electrical Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in high voltage substation and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) layout and design.
This role involves during sales and execution stage leading the design, development, and implementation of electrical systems and ensuring all projects meet technical specifications, safety standards, and client requirements. This role involves leading the design, development and implementation of electrical systems throughout both the sales and execution phases. You will ensure that all projects meet technical specifications, comply with safety standards, and fulfill client requirements.
You will join the rapidly expanding BESS engineering team, which currently consists of more than 30 dedicated professionals. This team forms an integral part of the larger Solar & Storage design group focused on delivering innovative energy solutions. In this role, you will also collaborate closely with the BESS commercial team and the project management team ensuring seamless coordination from project development through to execution. This interconnected structure provides a supportive environment that fosters knowledge sharing and strong teamwork across all stages of our projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and review detailed designs and layouts for substations and BESS, including electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and general arrangement drawings.
- Provide technical guidance and support in substation and BESS design, including equipment selection, protection and control systems, grounding, and power distribution.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations for the applicable countries.
- Perform design reviews, inspections, and testing to ensure quality and performance of electrical systems.
- Work closely with clients together with the business development/ bid manager during commercial phase and with the project manager during execution phase. Mainly to understand their requirements, provide technical solutions, and present design concepts and project progress.
- Lead engineering projects from conception through completion, ensuring timely delivery within budget. Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including civil, mechanical, and structural engineers.
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including design calculations, reports, and as-built drawings.
- Mentor and train junior engineers and provide technical leadership within the team.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in electrical engineering with a focus on substation and BESS design (preferably OEM or EPC).
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g.AutoCAD, ETAP, SKM, Cymcap), knowledge of SCADA systems, PLC programming testing and commissioning.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a strong capacity to maintain a “helicopter view” (seeing the big picture) and outstanding communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and prioritize and execute tasks efficiently in a fast-paced, parallel workflow environment.
- Travel: Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
