Job Summary: The company is looking to strengthen its credit risk team with a Credit Risk Manager. You would be an experienced professional, who can thoroughly and clearly explain a credit opinion as well as own it. Your experience would have covered the full credit lifecycle across multiple customer and credit product types.
Specifically, the job requires taking ownership of the following for the South African team:
- Credit risk assessment and monitoring of potential and existing customers, by
- consistently applying internally developed scoring tools,
- performing very detailed and thorough financial statement analysis (dealing with issues of low quality or incomplete disclosures),
- analysing intra-group structures, suretyships, guarantees, collateral, and credit risk mitigants where there are multiple related entities,
- applying judgement and expertise in investigating and evaluating qualitative risk factors for survivability and contract performance in a consistent and objective manner;
- Risk reporting at the customer and portfolio levels;
- Support the training of other departments on risk issues to support a company-wide appreciation risk appetite and customer prioritization;
- Work closely with other functions to ensure smooth execution of workflows;
- Capture and prepare internal and external data to improve credit risk assessment and contextualize reporting;
- Make material contributions to the improvement and new development of in-house risk tools and projects to improve credit decisions and reporting;
- Depending on experience and progress in the role, may assume a management role for junior staff in the Risk team.

Job Requirements:
- 5+ years front-line experience in credit risk in South Africa, ideally with a focus on SMEs;
- Broad knowledge of relevant industries such as manufacturing, agriculture, commercial real estate;
- In-depth understanding of accounting principles and relevant standards such as IFRS 9;
- Knowledge of and experience reviewing legal agreements such as Power Purchase Agreements, loan agreements, and parent company guarantees;
- Expert level knowledge of Excel and other data tools;
- Experience or know-how in Data Science, analytics, visualization or programming (i.e. Python, Power Query M, PowerBI, SQL, BigQuery) is a significant differentiator;
- Excellent spoken and written English.
