Summary
A selectee receiving a first appointment to the Federal Government (Civil Service) is entitled only to the lowest step of the grade for which selected. Major Duties
Work on and perform all tasks related to the safe, appropriate and efficient operation of a traditionally and square-rigged replica sailing vessel, according to USCG, OSHA and other applicable standards. Operate small watercraft to inspect lines and moorings; for volunteer training and engagement; to assist with ship maneuvering when getting underway and docking. Assist journeyman level workers in carpentry and rigging including tasks related to fabrication, installation and maintenance of ship parts. Work with crew, ship/NPS staff, riggers, carpenters and volunteers in the accomplishment of sailing, rigging and operational tasks, as needed and requested. Work aloft at a height of up to 120' comfortably and safely, according to OSHA fall arrest guidelines.
