Are you passionate about regulatory compliance? We are looking for a proactive Environmental & Waste Management Specialist to join our team. In this role, you won't just track waste, you will manage the full lifecycle of waste streams and participate in site environmental compliance. This role will drive waste reduction initiatives and ensure our site operates safely and sustainably. You will act as the go-to expert for waste characterization, vendor oversight, and regulatory compliance, ensuring we not only meet, but exceed, federal, state, and local standards. Additionally, you will help participate as the go to expert for site environmental protection, vendors oversite, and ensuring regulatory compliance in water permitting, spill prevention control and countermeasures, and air permitting.
The Impact You Will Have:
- Drive Compliance: Lead periodic waste inspections and stormwater monitoring, turning audits into actionable improvements for site compliance and safety.
- Waste Lifecycle Management: Track waste generation from start to finish, determining, classifying, and coordinating shipments to minimize our environmental footprint
- Strategic Reporting & Auditing: Own the preparation of annual environmental/waste reports and take the lead on auditing waste vendors to ensure high standards.
- Regulatory & Permitting Expert: Proactively assist with environmental permit applications, renewals, and modifications, ensuring all operations are permitted.
- Continuous Improvement: Review procedures, engineering design packages, and maintenance work packages to integrate sustainability and safety into the company’s core operations.
- Root Cause Analysis: Investigate non-compliance issues and implement corrective actions, turning challenges into learning opportunities.
- Training & Compliance Advocacy: Develop and update training documents, educating staff on best practices to build a strong culture of environmental responsibility.
What We Are Looking For:
- Education: Associate’s degree in environmental science, Waste Management, or a related field.
- Experience: Proven experience (2+ years) in environmental compliance, waste management, or hazardous materials handling.
- Technical Knowledge: Solid understanding of Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, and state/local environmental regulations.
- Skills: Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills, with a passion for problem-solving in the field.

This position will require a pre-employment background check and a pre-employment drug test.

In addition, once employe, employees will become part of a random drug testing program and may also be tested in the event of any incident causing injury or causing damage to property, or if it is determined that there is a reasonable suspicion the employee is under the influence of drugs or alcohol. This position will require preemployment background check on the part of the Company and in order to receive a Q security clearance, a background investigation by the Federal government. Subsequent Federal government reinvestigations may be required.
