This is a critical role, working in close conjunction with the Head of Project Delivery and Head of Power, to lead solar projects delivery and operations, both ground-mounted and rooftop, offsite as well as onsite projects, primarily in India but also in Southeast Asia.
The person will be responsible for reviewing and validating, energy yield assessments & electrical system designs submitted by EPC contractors, ensuring compliance, safety, and execution quality. Experienced in Design Engineering of Rooftop, Carport & Ground Mount Solar PV as well as Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct site surveys and assess client load profiles for solar PV system sizing;
- Perform energy yield assessments using tools like PVsyst or Helioscope & similar;
- Proficiency with tools such as SolarGIS, Homer Pro, ETB, Google Sketchup will be added advantage;
- Support pre-sales technical evaluations and feasibility screening of potential sites;
- Review electrical system designs including SLDs, layouts, cable schedules, and protection schemes;
- Validate EPC submissions for compliance with international and local electrical codes and safety standards;
- Assess grid interconnection designs, SCADA systems, and metering arrangements;
- Evaluate transformer sizing, inverter configurations, and earthing systems, power system studies;
- Conduct technical due diligence and risk assessments for electrical components;
- Ensure proper integration of electrical systems with civil and structural designs;
- Prepare and enforce strong MQAP's, FAT's, FQAP's, robust testing practices & reporting framework;
- Monitor site execution plans and ensure alignment with approved electrical designs;
- Provide expert feedback to EPCs on constructability, quality, and safety by conducting regular site visits during construction;
- Work closely with Owner's Engineers, Lender's Engineers, and Consultants;
- Support internal teams with electrical engineering insights during project development and execution; and
- Maintain documentation and support audits and reporting processes.
Other Position requirements
- Job located in Pune (India);
- Travelling in India, and occasionally in Southeast Asia;
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field;
- 5-7 years successful experience in electrical engineering roles within solar PV or renewable energy projects;
- Strong knowledge of solar PV systems, grid integration, energy storage solutions, protection coordination, and energy yield optimization;
- Spirit of dedication and teamwork;
- Resourceful and self-driven;
- Prior involvement in projects across Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines is a plus;
- Familiarity with international standards (IS, IEC, IEEE) and regional electrical practices;
- Exposure to Wind Power and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) will be considered an added advantage; and
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
