We are looking for an experienced Health, Safety & Environmental Advisor for our site in Cork
Your Role:
The Site HSE Advisor will work with site management, teams and individuals in order to progress safe working practices and to develop risk assessments and safe systems of work.
- You will stay up to date with relevant legislation and ensure Site MD is informed of same
- You will ensure that a safe working environment is maintained at the site and that the site is working in compliance with current Health and Safety legislation, best practice and approved codes of practice (ACOP)
- You will ensure that the site is working in compliance with current Environmental legislation, best practice and approved codes of practice and that the site is not conducting any practices that could have a negative impact of the environment
- You will manage the risk assessment (RA) and safe working operating procedures (SWOP) process and ensuring that all Supervisors and Managers are regularly reviewing these documents in line with business standards and current legislation, guidance and ACOP
- You will deliver the site Health & Safety induction programme for all new starters, contractors and visitors to site
- You will manage the near miss and accident reporting processes for health and safety, and the environment and ensuring that all incidents have been fully investigated and recorded in line with business standards and current legislation, guidance and ACOP
- You will ensure that the site Management team implement all corrective actions that have been established as part of an incident investigation and, within the agreed timescale
- You will ensure that all health, safety and environmental documentation is current, compliant and up to date with the latest HSE format
- You will identify underlying core issues/risks and engage at all site levels, both with colleagues, site technical staff and management within the site.
- You will maintain the site register of Interactive Safety Tours (IST) and ensure that all site Managers are conducting their tours in alignment with the agreed site schedule
- You will conduct internal audits of the site
- You will be a hands-on Advisor with overall accountability for developing the site safety plan and the continuous updating and monitoring of the plan.
- You will ensure that the site is compliant with its H&S training.
- You will facilitate the tri-monthly site safety committee meeting and ensure that there is a good balance of representation from the site, including the site lead and to then, create and distribute the meeting minutes
- You will ensure that the site health, safety and environmental information boards are populated and up to date
- You will collect and collate weekly and monthly Divisional HSE KPI data and repost externally
- You will manage stocks of PPE and supplies relevant to the staff protection and well being
Your Profile:
- You have an undergraduate degree or equivalent qualifications (EQF Level 6)
- You have 3-5 years professional experience
- You have a working knowledge of formal Management systems
- You are active member of IOSH or similar accredited professional body
- You have the ability to communicate complex matters confidently and professionally at all levels within the organisation
- You are self-disciplined and able to work to bring all projects and tasks to a suitable conclusion within agreed timescales
- You possess good I.T. skills and are proficient in the use of word, excel and PowerPoint in order to create suitable professional communications
