DescriptionThe Senior Business Development Manager will support our business development initiatives within one of our key business sectors.
The successful applicant will display a blend of applicable experience in business development or account management and be able to demonstrate knowledge of Nuclear Energy or Public/Private Sector.

ResponsibilitiesClient Engagement
Establish and maintain essential and progressive client relationships from senior stakeholder to operational level, creating consultancy and delivery opportunities that enhance value to clients and generate repeat business.
Support the Business Development Director in positioning Costain as a trusted delivery partner and programme integrator within nuclear energy.
Sales and Work Winning
Lead the identification, qualification and progression of consultancy, programme and delivery opportunities within nuclear energy.
Support and lead bid activities including shaping, proposal development, cost of sales inputs and internal work winning governance.
Maintain a robust pipeline and drive opportunities through to close in line with sector targets.
Key Account Management & Campaign Planning
Support and deliver key account plans for priority nuclear clients and partners.
Create, co‑ordinate and deliver imaginative and ambitious campaign plans to realise the long‑term pipeline of opportunities across nuclear energy.
Work collaboratively with delivery teams to identify follow‑on opportunities and expand existing commissions.
Lobbying
Support Costain’s understanding of Governmental, UK PLC and Nuclear Industry decision‑making processes and help translate these into sales leads.
Ensure relevant Costain individuals are engaged at appropriate industry and stakeholder forums.
Corporate Development and Group Strategy
Events / Stakeholder Engagement
Identify, scope and support delivery of stakeholder engagement plans (e.g. visits, seminars, dinners, events) with appropriate multi‑level contacts.
Support organisation and delivery of events in conjunction with colleagues, including coordination and administration where required.
Market Research and Insight
Conduct research to analyse markets and customer needs.
Provide market feedback to company leadership regarding competitive offerings, prospect needs and innovative development ideas.
Review and monitor strategies of the company such as sales, marketing and related business activities to improve market position.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Essential
Significant account management / customer relationship management and engagement - credible dealing at senior level.
Ability to drive sales leads to close and support work winning activities.
Relevant experience and relationships within the UK nuclear energy market, including understanding of opportunities and challenges.
Degree level or equivalent.
Desirable
Experience in governmental relationships, with an emphasis on DESNZ, NDA estate, EDF, Great British Nuclear and equivalent organisations.
Experience supporting delivery partner, programme integration or consultancy-led opportunities.
