Design & Engineering
CPP has the largest in-house design and engineering team of any contractor in Australia, with over 170 specialists across Electrical Primary and Secondary, Civil, Structural, and SCADA disciplines. We provide end-to-end engineering solutions for high-voltage infrastructure, including nationally significant transmission projects, HV substations, wind farms and battery storage systems that drive Australia’s renewable energy transition.

The Opportunity
We are seeking two Trainee Commissioning Engineers to join our Engineering team.
These are rare opportunities for recent Electrical Engineering graduates or early-career engineers to build hands-on experience within one of Victoria’s most established high-voltage commissioning environments.
You will work alongside experienced Senior and Lead Commissioning Engineers and Officers who are widely respected across the industry. Through direct mentorship and on-the-job training, you will gain practical exposure to complex High Voltage systems, testing, and large-scale infrastructure energisation.
Our commissioning team is trusted to deliver some of Australia’s most significant renewable energy and utility infrastructure projects. You won’t be observing from the sidelines, you’ll be actively involved in bringing critical energy assets online.
CPP is committed to developing long-term technical capability. You will be supported to complete your ESI studies and continue progressing toward becoming a highly capable, industry-recognised commissioning professional.

These roles are primarily based on sites in rural areas of Victoria on a roster and are best suited to those who are comfortable working away from home frequently.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will possess:

Completed Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a background in computer networking advantageous

Working towards, or willing to commence, the Advanced Diploma of ESI – Power Systems (UET60222) – Protection Testing Group E

Experience or exposure to commissioning engineering through a graduate program or rotational experience is highly regarded

Interest in building a career in high-voltage commissioning, protection testing, and energy infrastructure

Genuine enthusiasm for working on complex technical projects that support Australia’s energy transition

Willingness to work on site and contribute to project delivery activities, including comfort travelling and working away from home when required

Interest in roster-based project work, with the opportunity to achieve strong financial rewards through overtime, travel allowances, and site-based benefits

Current Australian driver’s licence is required
