Position Title: Project Quality Technician
Department: Quality
Compensation: $80,000 - $110,000 + annual bonus
Reports To: Quality Manager
Location: Cardinal, Ontario
About the Role:
The Project Quality Technician (PQT) supports construction and inspection quality execution on BESS EPC/ESS projects. The PQT performs field and receiving inspections, verifies compliance to IFC drawings/specifications/OEM requirements, and completes accurate quality records (ITRs, logs, inspection forms). The role also supports the project QMS/document control activities, prepares quality metrics and KPI reporting, and escalates nonconformances and trends to the PQE/PQM in real time to prevent repeat issues and protect schedule and safety.
Responsibilities:
Perform daily field inspections for civil, electrical, mechanical, and balance-of-plant activities using ITPs/ITRs
Verify work against IFC drawings, specifications, approved submittals, method statements, and OEM requirements.
Confirm workmanship quality (labeling, routing, supports, clearances, weatherproofing, grounding/bonding basics, torque-mark awareness)
Perform incoming inspections for batteries, PCS, transformers, switchgear, enclosures, and other critical components
Verify supplier documentation packages (CoCs/MTRs, FAT reports, calibration certificates, traceability records)
Identify installation/product nonconformances and initiate NCRs with objective evidence (photos, measurements, drawing/spec references)
Track and maintain quality logs and databases (inspection log, NCR log, CAR log, punchlist log, re-inspection/repair log)
Monitor KPIs and support trend analysis (repeat defects, closure cycle times, subcontractor/supplier performance, at-risk activities)
Maintain the QMS document control system, including uploading, reviewing, revising, and issuing management and operational procedures, SOPs, and forms
Required Qualifications and Skills:
Educational background in Engineering, or a related discipline
At least 3 years' of experience in construction QA/QC, electrical installation, industrial fieldwork, or renewables EPC projects
Ability to read and interpret IFC drawings, specifications, and basic wiring/installation diagrams
Experience completing inspection checklists/forms and writing clear, objective field reports
Working knowledge of ITP/ITR execution, receiving inspection, and NCR/CAR basics
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word); able to maintain logs/trackers and produce reports
Comfortable using document control platforms (ACC/SharePoint/Smartsheet or similar)
