Summary
This position is a temporary position located in the Division of Maintenance, Roads and Trails Section, at the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Maintenance Worker Leader over a trail crew tasked with performing seasonal trail maintenance activities in the park. The work will be accomplished by seasonal positions with experience and knowledge about sustainable trail work.
Major Duties
Major Duties: This position is a working leader of a five to eight person trail crew. Coordinates work led with the Trails Supervisor, Volunteers, park Partners, DEWA Staff and other Labor pools. Acts as a liaison with the Student Conservation Association, Appalachian Trail Club, Appalachian Mountain Club, Trails Conference and other organizations, providing trail maintenance under formal agreements such as Cooperative Agreement (CA). General Agreement (GA), Memorandum of Agreement (MA), Memorandum of Understanding (MU), Project Agreement (PA), etc. Provides input to Trails Supervisor and/or Facility Manager on trail priorities and equipment or supply needs. Once projects have been prioritized for the work season, incumbent works with supervisor to schedule individual phases of special project or various park projects for the work season. This may include scheduling/coordinating vehicle and equipment use, and working with volunteer or youth corps groups. Responsible for the on-the-job safety and health of all employees led. Initiates efforts conforming to established National Park Service Safety Programs to satisfy this responsibility. Responsibilities include identifying and correcting job hazards, instructing employees on safety requirements for job assignments, reviewing and reporting loss incidents in accordance with National Park Service and Office of Employees' compensation regulations, initiating corrective measures for violations of the Occupational Safety and Health Act standards, and performing periodic inspection of all work places under the incumbents scope of responsibility. Conducts and documents tailgate safety meeting weekly or as needed. safety and health. Responsible for the coordination of the Facility Management Software System for the incumbents scope of responsibility including: inventory, work programs, reports, work orders, tracking, assuring completion of Daily Work Reports and recommending system modifications.
