Summary
The incumbent performs recurring building and/or utility maintenance and operation duties and assists journeymen and other higher-graded maintenance workers. Incumbent utilizes knowledge and skills in several trades and crafts.
Major Duties
Performs repairs to buildings and quarters. Applies premixed paints or stains to masonry, gypsum board, or wood surfaces using brushes or rollers. Performs plumbing tasks such as replacing hose bibs, valves, unions and elbows, fixtures, toilets, flush valves, faucets, and various types of pipe and copper lines. Patches and repairs roofs consisting of built-up tar and paper, metal, as well as foam roofs and asphalt shingles. Performs electrical tasks involving making repairs that can be accomplished by removing, replacing, tightening, splicing, and insulating defective wiring and fixtures. Builds and sets forms on projects of limited scope and difficulty such as sidewalks and steps which do not require precise measurements and involve only the setting of forms in straight lines. Performs masonry work of limited difficulty involving the maintenance, repair, construction, and/or stabilization of historic sites built of stone, mortar, or adobe, and/or contemporary buildings, features, or structures. May be responsible for water/wastewater plant duties, monitoring equipment and gauges in accordance with a prescribed schedule such as pumps, gate valves, and outlets, and performs routine tests recording the results in reports to the supervisor or higher-graded worker (if the park requires these duties, you will be required to be licensed by the state in which you operate). Performs custodial duties of cleaning buildings, offices, and comfort stations, empties trash, and cleans and waxes a variety of floors. Operates and performs operator maintenance on cars, trucks, and/or van and stake trucks to pick up supplies and to transport materials to and from work sites while assisting on project work.
