Position Overview
Winter Environmental is seeking an experienced Environmental Remediation Superintendent to lead field execution of environmental and industrial remediation projects. This role is focused on soil and groundwater remediation, environmental system installations, tank cleaning and removals, facility decontamination, and decommissioning work. The ideal candidate has experience managing heavy, technical, and regulated remediation work in industrial, utility, manufacturing, or infrastructure environments.
Key Responsibilities
Field Leadership & Remediation Execution
- Lead daily field operations on environmental remediation and industrial services projects.
- Supervise work including:
- Soil excavation and remediation
- Groundwater remediation and treatment systems
- Environmental system installations (pump & treat, treatment skids, piping, controls)
- Tank cleaning, vessel entry, and removals
- Facility decontamination and industrial decommissioning
- Plan daily work activities, sequencing, manpower, and equipment utilization.
- Read and execute remediation work plans, drawings, specifications, and technical scopes.
Safety & Regulatory Compliance
- Implement and enforce site-specific HASPs and safety plans.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, RCRA, confined space, LOTO, hot work, and applicable state regulations.
- Lead daily safety meetings, job hazard analyses, and field audits.
- Coordinate with safety personnel, environmental consultants, and inspectors.
Operational Coordination
- Coordinate subcontractors, specialty vendors, and equipment required for remediation work.
- Manage site logistics, access, staging, and material handling.
- Identify and resolve field issues that impact schedule, safety, or productivity.
Documentation & Reporting
- Complete daily field reports, timekeeping, waste tracking, and remediation documentation.
- Support regulatory reporting, sampling coordination, and project close-out requirements.
- Communicate field progress, constraints, and risks to Project Managers.
Client & Team Interface
- Act as the primary on-site representative for remediation activities.
- Maintain professional communication with clients, inspectors, and project stakeholders.
- Promote accountability, safety, and quality across all field personnel.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of superintendent or senior field leadership experience in:
- Environmental remediation
- Industrial services
- Tank cleaning / vessel work
- Utility, manufacturing, or heavy civil environments
- Proven experience executing technical, regulated field work.
- Strong understanding of OSHA, EPA, RCRA, confined space, and industrial safety requirements.
- Ability to read remediation plans, manage crews, and coordinate complex field activities.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with soil and groundwater remediation systems.
- Tank cleaning, removal, or industrial vessel experience.
- Decontamination or decommissioning project experience.
- OSHA 30-Hour, HAZWOPER 40-Hour, Confined Space certifications.
- Experience working on active industrial or utility sites.
