The National Environmental Health and Safety Advisor leads the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of national Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental, and Sustainability programs across Andrew Peller Limited. This role provides primary advisory support to Operations, Corporate, Estate Wineries, and Retail teams nationally (shared with the BC EHS Manager), helping leaders build a strong, proactive safety culture while ensuring regulatory compliance and alignment with business strategy.

What the teammate will be responsible for
Lead development, implementation, and maintenance of national Health & Safety, Environmental, and Sustainability policies and programs
Serve as primary EHS advisor to assigned stakeholder groups and additional advisor nationally
Own and administer the EHS compliance management system
Partner with People & Culture to deliver onboarding and ongoing EHS training programs
Promote and strengthen a culture of safety through leadership, education, and continuous improvement initiatives
Develop and advance APL’s sustainability framework aligned with business strategy
Monitor and maintain national EHS management systems, metrics, and reporting for senior leadership
Conduct audits across business units and support corrective action planning
Collaborate with Joint Health & Safety Committees across locations
Lead or support incident investigations and root cause analysis
Maintain compliance with applicable legislation and regulatory requirements, including engagement with agencies such as Ontario Ministry of Labour and Workplace Safety and Insurance Board
Support risk assessment programs and job task analysis processes
Partner with People & Culture on WSIB claims management processes
What skills, experience and knowledge this teammate will bring -
3+ years of experience in occupational health & safety program development and implementation
Experience conducting workplace safety audits and risk assessments
Background in environmental and sustainability initiatives
Strong working knowledge of Ontario OHSA, WSIB requirements, and applicable CSA standards
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills across all organizational levels
Ability to balance urgency with thoughtful, compliant decision-making
Experience supporting incident investigations and corrective action planning
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and EHS management systems
Working knowledge of GMP and HACCP standards is an asset
Education & Credentials
Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation preferred
Post-secondary education in Health & Safety, Environmental Studies, or related discipline
Working Conditions
Multi-location national role within a complex operational environment
Approximately 15–20% travel to field sites
Hybrid office and field engagement
This role will pay $75,000 - $85,000 base salary depending on experience and includes a range of other total compensation programs - bonus, RRSP matching, health benefits and other perks.
