We seek an environment and sustainability manager to support a major UK infrastructure programme, driving best practice, compliance, and high‑quality environmental deliverables. You will provide technical support across design, DCO and EIA preparation, and programme interfaces, while contributing to work winning and our broader sustainability ambitions.
Please Note\: This role will be based in London.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Coordinating environmental inputs across design teams to ensure integration of environmental requirements into developing designs.
- Drafting and development support for the environmental impact assessment (EIA), including baseline data collation, technical chapter drafting and coordination, and responding to consultee feedback.
- Monitoring and assuring compliance with environmental legislation, client standards, and DCO requirements as they emerge.
- Maintaining programme-level environmental risk registers and support mitigation development with technical specialists.
- Managing engagement with internal and external stakeholders on discrete environmental topics, ensuring accurate and timely information flow.
- Supporting drafting of DCO application documents, including technical appendices, environmental management plans, and consultation responses.
- Supporting central work winning through bid support, innovation, client liaison, upskilling of colleagues and external profile-raising of Mace/Mace services.
- Supporting the drive for Mace to be a leader in environmental management and sustainability.
You’ll need to have:
- Experience in environmental management within infrastructure, utilities, water, or large capital projects.
- Working knowledge of EIA processes, environmental constraints analysis, and relevant UK environmental legislation.
- Ability to interpret technical environmental reports and translate them into clear programme actions.
- Strong organisational and coordination skills with experience working in multidisciplinary design environments.
- Experience engaging with regulators, stakeholders, and technical consultants.
- Degree in environmental science or related discipline; professional accreditation (PISEP, and working towards MISEP, CEnv) desirable.
