Job Purpose:
The Project Manager will oversee and lead the day-to-day implementation of the Bezos Earth Fund project in Solomon Islands, ensuring timely delivery of project outputs, coordination of field teams, financial and technical reporting, and logistical support. The role works closely with the National Ocean Coordinator to ensure government priorities and processes are reflected in project activities.
Major Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily implementation of the project workplan and ensure all milestones are met.
- Manage the day-to-day delivery of the project, ensuring workplan, milestone, and budget targets are achieved.
- Provide leadership, supervision, and performance management for all project staff, including recruitment, mentoring, and professional development.
- Oversee the work of consultants and technical specialists, ensuring outputs meet quality standards and project needs.
- Coordinate field teams, consultants, and contractors to deliver MPA/MMA and MSP activities.
- Manage project budget, procurement, and compliance with WCS and donor requirements.
- Support logistics for consultations, surveys, training, and stakeholder events.
- Draft technical progress reports and consolidate financial reporting with the WCS Finance team.
- Oversee the quality and timely delivery of donor reporting and communications.
- Liaise closely with MECDM, MFMR, and provincial governments to support implementation.
- Track monitoring and evaluation indicators and support adaptive management.
- Maintain close collaboration with the NOC to align implementation with policy processes.
Internal Qualification RequirementsMinimum Requirements and Job Skills:
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in project management, ideally in conservation or development.
• Demonstrated experience managing donor-funded projects and multi-disciplinary teams.
• Proven experience in financial and staff management, donor reporting, and communications.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage budgets and reporting systems.
• Familiarity with Solomon Islands context and fieldwork in remote areas preferred.
